Art is Life. ... lend your ears to music, open your eyes to painting, and... STOP THINKING! Just ask yourself whether the work has enabled you to "walk about" into a hitherto unknown world. If the answer is YES, what more do you want? -Kandinsky, 1910

We all remember Dave White for his popular sneaker paintings from a few years back, capturing everyone from the likes of Sneaker Pimps to Nike. Changing it up a bit, the British artist unveils his Forgotten Alchemy series, a change of pace from what we’re used to seeing. Dave will be presenting these new paintings in Copenhagen as part of the Nordic Art Fair 2010 at Art Copenhagen. For those in the area, be sure not to miss out as the fair opens on September 17th, 2010!

Amongst his many works, Barnes completed a major commission inspired by Bill Withers’ hit Grandma’s Hands “He meant getting people to look past the superficial into the real vulnerable parts of themselves,” said Withers, “He wanted to help people peel away that layer of protection that we all wear to ward off any intrusion into our real private thoughts. He didn’t mind people looking deeper into him. I found that fascinating.”
